(12) Rain over Text

• the text is over the water and it rains on it
• open the .fla file and follow our explains because it's easier to understand this way

• as you probably noticed in the main timeline we only have a frame, but that does not mean our movie is static (by using Action Script we can control the time from within the Movie Clip and that's what we've done here)
• we have 4 layers in Stage 1, the last is the background (blue rectangle the size of the Stage), and before that layer is the layer with the simple text (there is no effect on the last layer)
• there are two layers left (ignore the WebArticles layers), each one with an effect, in the first one the rain, and in the second the reflection of the text on the water
• the rain effect is explained in our Flash Star Effects website
• reflection of the text in the water
• double click twice on the movie clip to reveal the stage where the action takes place
• on the first layer we have the text flipped and a bit squeezed on the vertical and with the same color as the original text but with transparency
• another copy of this smaller text was included in a Movie Clip and this text moves all the time left to right and right to left
• this text is masked by a graphic element like the one on the picture witch moves and reveals only parts of the text under the mask, and combined with the horizontal movement, the result is the water effect
